An Incident Response Plan SMEs Will Actually Use
April 21, 20260 views
Crises Are No Time to Improvise
When something goes badly wrong, adrenaline is high and clear thinking is scarce. A plan made calmly, in advance, is what keeps a security incident from becoming chaos.
Keep It Short and Real
An effective plan fits on a couple of pages. It names who leads, who decides, and who to contact — internally, plus your IT partner, insurer and, where relevant, the authorities. It defines the first practical steps: isolate, preserve evidence, communicate. It says where backups are and how to invoke recovery.
Then rehearse it, even briefly. A plan no one has practised and no one can find is not a plan. A short one, known by the team, is genuinely valuable.
